Defamation cases of high officials through the social networking site Facebook occurred again. This time it happened in the country of Lebanon.A total of three people in Lebanon had been picked up for allegedly slandering police Lebanese President Michel Suleiman for writing an insulting tone of the presidential statement.
Through the Attorney General Saeed Mirza of Lebanon, the authorities make arrests to three people and search warrant to the fourth person accused of slandering President Michel Suleiman on the Facebook site.
Quoted by Xinhua, Tuesday (29/06/2010), of course, opposed the arrest of various parties in Lebanon. They asked President Suleiman to immediately release the arrested students as soon as possible.
Some media worry that this arrest will make the government act arbitrarily. But Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar stressed the freedom of the media does not cover libel, slander, and false accusations against the president's reputation.
