NEW DELHI - India may close the Google and Skype Internet-based messaging services over security concerns. Threaten the country's government as you would on a BlackBerry service.
According to local newspapers, security officials and the associated telecommunications operator service center met to look at possible solutions to prevent the closure of this service is going to happen.
"There is consensus that there is more than one type of service that should be explored because of security concerns. Some of them are BlackBerry, Skype, Google and others," according to local officials, as quoted by Financial Times, Friday (08/13/2010).
"It was decided the first thing to do is to resolve BlackBerry issue and then the other services," he added.
Earlier, the Indian government threatened to block the Blackberry service, if RIM does not want to give the government the possibility to access email and messaging services available on such devices.
They gave a deadline until August 31 to RIM to provide the possibility of access to RIM's documentation.
